The Original Woody’s infatuation with Old Slithery Mr. No-Shoulders continues to inspire! Now that our last batch of Black Jack Racers and Black Jack Reds have all but sold out, Woody No. 2 and the boys down in the shop have been busy, once again, working on the next big Ophidian Idea. Snaky, Snaky, Snaky. This time they decided to get real creative with an old Woody standard, The Max. So, you might say, this is the Ophidain to the MAX! And for inspiration they explored all the beautiful places our Snaky Friends might abide. In the grass, under the fauna, in the thickets and brambles, under the rocks, logs and driftwood, in the canyons, crooks, crannies and crevices. All those earthy places an Ophidian might call home.
To kick off this next Ophidian Small Batch, Woody and the guys made three prototypes of 11 exquisitely, beautiful handle versions. And they all turned out extra special! So much so, that we are thinking each and every one may be a keeper! But for now we are offering these 33 prototypes - first come first served! Get one before they are gone.

Just like Woody’s mom Hortense when her serpent-loving husband started that King Snake Farm in the house, forcing her too evacuate and move in with her sister down the road! True Story - you can read it at the bottom! Not sure if the Original Woody ever had any Scarlet King Snakes, but it’s in his and Hortense’s honor Woody #2 is making another batch of his sleek looking little fillet knives. Check out those Hot Red liners! These are available in a sizzling Autumn Flame Curly Maple and a hand-aged Smoked Amber Curly Maple. Each finish is a Limited Edition Small Batch of thirty-five. TRUE STORY: The Original Woody was a bona fide, farm-educated, self-proclaimed herpetologist. That's a fancy name for someone who is really smart when it comes to knowing about snakes. And all things snake-like. Old Woody was a snaky kind of guy. And quite industrious too. As a matter of fact, the Original Woody once had the bright idea of raising a bounteous and self-propagating supply of his favorite snake, the King Snake, and selling them as a Cash Crop. He called the enterprise Old Woody's Rodent Control Apparatus Supply Co. It never really had time to catch on with the neighboring farmers; mainly due to 40 fine specimens getting loose in the house, forcing Woody's wife Hortence to vacate the premises and move in with her sister a little ways down the road. To our recollection only 32 were re-captured and promptly set free down by the river. We aren't quite sure when Hortence returned home. We just know she eventually did. The OPHIDIAN Series is in honor of Old Woody.
