Thanks for choosing a genuine “Woody Brand” Knife. Your knife was designed by Woody for maximum serviceability, ergonomics and beauty - a knife that will serve well for a lifetime and be proudly passed to posterity. Your new knife will likely become a true favorite and it will perform to a very high standard. Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. The Woody Knives tradition of producing heirloom quality knives that will always “be worth a day’s pay” has been four generations in the making. Your purchase of a new “Woody Knife” helps us honor that tradition and we will always be deeply appreciative.
Take care your new Woody Brand Knife and it will last a life time. Keep it clean and dry and if you use it on a regular basis, the oils from your hands or any meat being processed will keep the blade in good shape. When storing for a week or more keep the knife out of the sheath. A light coat of machine oil on the blade is a good idea too. For the handle, an occasional buffing with 0000 steel wool will help keep the surface bright. Applying a good grade of polishing wax with a light buff every now and then is a good idea too. Woody likes Renaisance Crystalline Wax for both the handle and the blade. Oh, and keep away from the automatic dishwasher.
Woody Brand Knives are known for great edge retention and therefore should not require a lot of frequent sharpening. If and when they do, a ceramic or diamond rod or a leather strop will do the trick. If the knife requires re-honing after hard use, Woody suggests an Arkansas Oil Stone for re-profiling the edge. If you are not a skilled free hand sharpener then a system like ‘Lansky” sharpener is recommended. This will allow for keeping a precise angle on the bevel of the edge, key for getting a sharp edge.
