Then, as our America 250 journey unfolded, she became The PeaceMaker — a name inspired by the story of Sacagawea, the young Shoshone woman whose courage, resourcefulness and presence helped guide the Lewis & Clark Expedition across an unfamiliar continent.

A compact handmade frontier knife built for the journey, The PeaceMaker features a broad Alabama Damascus blade fitted with richly figured antique Pennsylvania white oak scales — reclaimed from an 1845 barn — backed by Old Glory Red, White & Blue liners and finished with brass pins, a brass lanyard tube and a patriotic mosaic pin.

Handy, handsome and made to travel, The Peacemaker comes complete with a top-grain leather sheath, handmade by Lonnie Hyatt in Salem, South Carolina.
